2010: Happy New Year!
2010 is coming. And by this point of time, I am definitely sure that everyone is counting down every hours, minutes and seconds left until the year of the tiger comes -the year 2010.The year I have been waiting for, personally, since 2009 has been a bad year for me and all.
Today, I am going to update you of how we’re going to celebrate New Year here in Davao City,Philippines as well as how I and my whole family celebrates it.
10:30 – Oh my, how excited am i for 2010.A Happy New Year Everyone!!.Few more hours left!!!
10:37 – Aunt Gem came with packs of food! Her Chinese boss ordered it for her in a restaurant. That must have been why they didn’t cook anything in preparation for Media Noche.
11:09 – I have startled SNOW .I got so excited that I didn’t notice she was just lying down the floor.
11:11 – I went to my cousins, they’re living next door, they were awake though but I insisted that we should go out and take a tour around our village.
11:20 – We were talking about the movie they’ve just watched earlier in the theater.I was in the same mall they’re in that time but I didn’t have a ghost of notion that they were inside those glamorous looking movie theaters.
11:25 – As planned,we wandered around the village looking for fun.It was kinda boring though because there isn’t anything knew and all.
11:29 – I’ve heard that there’s going to be a coin throwing event in the basketball court.I smell M-O-N-E-Y!! I told my cuzn’s about it and we were like bomb sniffing dogs roving the place waiting till somebody throws a coin.
11:40 – We went back to the house to set up the table and all that stuff. My grandparents are still asleep and so with some of my uncles next door.Mom’s been watching movie since 7:00.I remember this is going to be the first time that Junior is going to celebrate new year and so with Christmas which has just happened a week ago.I wonder if he’s awake?
11:50 – We went there just in time. One of the richest family in the village, I think has been doing this coin throwing tradition yearly. It just that, its my first time to enter the said event and my first time to scoop up coins with a large number of greedy people.XD I scooped up about ₱70 only.A friend of mine has told me that he had scooped up a bounty of ₱200 coins last new years eve.
12:00 -Happy New Year!! The phrase “Happy New Year” spread in the air like a wildfire.House by house you can hear someone shouting a happy new year.I can feel it -the new year coming.2010 has come! Suddenly the whole family went outside the house. We were shouting like hellions,my cousins were laughing like hyenas in the corner, the neighbors went outside their houses too.And then everybody greeted a happy new year to everyone.People kissing,we “Mano Po” at our dear parents and grandparents.
12:05 – Since Fireworks are banned here in Davao City.Engines started roaring! Some people tailed these rusty iron sheets on their vehicles and started dragging it which made consecutive annoying though livening clank, cling, ting sounds and sparks too.Minorca took a two pans and bumped them with each other creating a loud bang which almost made me deaf and Yes I was just right next to her.
12:16 - Media Noche! influenced by Spaniards. That’s what they fondly call the family dinner at New Years Eve here.We didn’t prepare that much food though but my stomach is still full to have anything in it.
12:20 – Ahaha.Goodbye 2009! Goodbye sweets! Less Calories!! Will you please hide the sweets in the fridge or at least eat it all until nothing’s left -what a temptation!
1:00 – Sleepy Now!!!
1:36 – I’ve just remembered today is Aunt Arlisa’s flight to Manila! I saw her packing her things awhile ago though. It’s 4:00 am this morning!!She’s an OFW and is going back to Dubai for work. She’s coming back 5 years from now Minorca said.Oh my! We’ll just keep in touch with her in the internet. She’s nice and all.She gave me a shirt this Christmas! which I am actually wearing right now! We’ll miss you Auntie Lisa!! Happy and Safe Trip!! Godbless.
